Evaluation Questions (CR)

In a music video, branding means giving the material a unique look that makes people remember the song as well as the artist. I made sure that the photography, editing, and story, all work together to create a unique brand identity.   1. Visual Aesthetic: As for the look, I stuck to a warm and soft color scheme to keep with the love theme. The natural lighting with no particular set design (all scenes are shot at actual places and not on the sets) made the video more relatable to most of the target audience. 2. Point of View Film Style: Using first-person views made the movie stand out and give viewers a unique experience. It also provided recognition to the artist himself making it a performance-based Indie music video. 3. Storytelling that people can relate to: I made a video that feels personal and emotional by focusing on small but important moments. Together, these elements established a recognizable style, making my production visually and emotionally cohesive. One of ...

Planning

Location and Set Planning I carefully planned the shooting spots to make sure the production went smoothly. I wanted choices  that were both personal and nice to look at.   I chose:  1. My Home: Some scenes were filmed in my house, where I could change the lighting and mood. This made it possible to get close-up, cozy shots that added to the romantic mood. 2. A salon that I own called Verve salon and spa: This place was used for a silly/romantic scene.  3. A  coffee shop: This was an important spot because coffee dates are popular in modern relationships. It made the scene feel casual and real. I also thought about what to wear and how to style it. To  keep the look natural, I chose simple, daily clothes. I told the couple to act normally, as if they were really on a date, instead of using actors with over the top expression .

Production process

Production Process Filming Approach:  For high-quality shots, I used a DSLR camera. This gave the movie a professional look while still keeping an honest feel. Most of the clips were shot by me, but for some scenes, I gave the male lead the camera to get a point-of-view shot. This added a unique touch to the video and made the viewers feel like they were there with the couple. I worked on catching natural emotions and  expressions during filming, so it took more than one take to get the best shots. I wanted the movie to feel real, so I told the actors to have unplanned conversations and laugh out loud. This made the chemistry between them seem more real. Editing and Post-Production After filming, I used CapCut, which is easy to use editing software, to make some changes to the  movie. My goal was to improve the visual drama while keeping the effects as simple as possible. Some of the most important editing methods I used were  • Color Correction: I changed the...

Research

Research Before I started making the video, I did a lot of study on different types of music videos mainly ones  with romantic themes. I watched Pakistani and Bollywood music videos to learn more about how love and feelings are usually shown on TV. A lot of these videos have scripted scenes, highly stylized images and dramatic displays of love. I did notice that some foreign music videos especially indie  and alternative ones, tend to be more casual and focusing on real moments and simple stories. I chose to be inspired by this method and film in a way that was similar. I also learned about different filmmaking styles, such as  Handheld camera work to add a raw and authentic feel to the footage.  POV shots to make the audience feel like they are part of the story. Soft, natural lighting to enhance the warmth and romance of the video. Minimalistic editing to maintain a realistic and immersive experience.

Why I chose music promotional package as my advanced portfolio

Selecting music video    Music has been important to me my whole life. Every day I listen to music, and going to shows is  one of my favorite things to do because I can really feel the energy of live music. Music can make  you feel things, tell you stories, and make memories that will last a lifetime. With that in mind, when  I had the chance to make a music video for my A-level Media Studies project, I chose something  that combined my love of music and stories. The words to Fawaad Ahmed Butt's Urdu song "Janley"  made me choose it because they are so romantic and honest. The song beautifully captures what  love is all about, and I wanted to turn that feeling into a visual story that felt real and easy to relate  to. I wanted to keep my idea simple: a couple on a relaxed date in Lahore, Pakistan. This is in  contrast to many commercial music videos, which feature fancy sets and over-the-top romance. The  goal was to show a tru...
